the legend of gypsy brass
Booking for Romanian territory only.
Fanfare Ciocarlia, the world’s foremost Balkan brass band, celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2016. They will do so in classic Gypsy style by taking to the stage in as many venues and nations as is possible across the year.
When Fanfare first arrived on the European music scene the Romanian band were farmers and factory workers who played music at weddings and funerals yet had never performed further than a few miles from their “invisible village” (so called because it was not on any map, had no phone lines and only intermittent electricity). Their debut 1996 tour of Germany found Fanfare’s raucous brass sound an instant hit, capable of making music festival audiences jump with joy while turning dance clubs into an Eastern Bloc disco.
Twenty years on and Fanfare Ciocarlia are now internationally hailed as one of the world’s greatest live bands. Their music has been remixed by DJs, appeared on the soundtrack of Borat, inspired jazz and funk musicians and lead to countless imitators. Yet no other band matches Fanfare Ciocarlia, the hardest working band in the blow biz. Their heavy, heavy brand of Eastern funk is guaranteed to bring the party and leave audiences delirious with joy. From Russia to Colombia, New Zealand to Norway (and far beyond!), Fanfare rock the world!
In twenty years the 12-piece brass beast played 2000 Concerts in more than 70 countries and released 11 Albums.
2016 sees Fanfare Ciocalia the subject of a BBC TV documentary, releasing ONWARDS TO MARS (on April 15th), an album of explosive new tunes, and bringing their raucous, good time music to stages across Europe, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and Oceania.
